The majority of students are under achieving, which says alot about the school. The main idea coming down from administration is just pass your class and get the heck out of here. There is no push to pursue higher education or dream big, nothing like that. Behavior is another story. Students are not prepared for AP courses and then pressured into signing up for them. This school is a mess and it's sad for the few students and staff who are really trying to do better.

Liberty is a wonderful place to work. The administration is supportive; the kids are friendly, and teachers care about their students. Liberty has its problems with students who don't want to learn, but overall, the environment is safe, and kids are learning.

Liberty usually has quality athletic program. Its academics have been lacking recently. The new AP initiative program and leadership that has been put in place over the last couple of years should help to turn this around. Speaking as a Liberty High School graduate I know first hand how the class room environment doesn't properly prepare students to enter a completive college setting. As a current student at the University of Virginia I can fully understand the gap of what is supposed to be a college preparatory classroom at Liberty High School and an actual college classroom at a large, academic intensive university. The bottom line is the college preparatory classes lack teachers who are CAPABLE of preparing students for an elite college. Liberty does have a link to two regional Governor's schools, Central Virginia Governor's School and Roanoke Valley Governor's School are other avenues for advanced students who intend on attending highly competitive colleges. On the other hand, Liberty's connection to Bedford Science and Technology Center provides students an excellent opportunity to learn important workforce skills for those who wish to immediately enter the workforce.

I give Liberty High School 2 stars at the very best. Teachers are very young and try to be friends with the students instead of leaders. The atmosphere in the entire area of academics tends to be accomodating the lowest common denominator. Someone needs to raise the bar academically at this school. Takes many trips to the administrative offices to effect any change. Counseling department is useless. So called 'Advanced Classes' require very little effort for the average student.

I give Liberty High School 5 stars for education and the football program. Also AP courses are great for those who choose one or two. Both of my sons were here, one graduated in 2000, and the other one is going into the 10th grade. He plays football and he keeps his grades up, so I know that they are teaching him at the very best they can do.

The school has excellent academic programs and the faculty involement is high. The sports program is also excellent. As a student I always felt safe and the teachers work hard to make sure the students are prepared to suceed in life.

I think the school is alright...But, I think they worry about football too much rather than education. And I also think that they need worry about keeping everyone safe and secure because 2005-2006 was not a very good year for the school. It just gets worst and worst every year. But overall its an okay school.

I am not a parent but you could probably get a better review from me then any parent. The academic programs are good. I've learned everything I need to know so far and all my teachers are nice and always there for you if you need them. There are so many Extracurricular activities that no matter what your child enjoys doing he/she will find something. There isnt much parent envolvment though. But all around its a good school, its not perfect but its the best Ive been to so far.

This is an excellent school to send your child to. The staff is very friendly and is willing to help you if you have any concerns about your child.

Although the academic programs are strong, there is way too much turnover in staff, including principals. There is a very strong athletic department--especially football, but Liberty is a school with lots of discipline problems.
